been a few asks recently about backpads

has anyone else happened to wander through the Kitchen and dining section of
a general store lately and noticed all the fine, cushiony cloth Table placemats
available ?

son of a gun if they aren't just the size of Accordion backpads

OK, maybe a little flowery and artsy, but hey, who can see them
when you are wearing the accordion ?

cost is 1/10 th of a typical black backpad or less

easy to sew the velcro on the cloth side then pop some self stick
velcro on the accordion, or just as easy to pickup a snap-setting tool and
do it the traditional way (hobby supply or Amazon for the snaps)

just sayin'

My wife has made backpads herself, using some smooth cloth and felt padding. We did the velcro thing on one of them, but didn't like it too much, so we opted to rather use the traditional "snaps".

The original, majestic Scandalli Super VI M series never had a backpad. The accordion just fitted to perfection, no padding required or desired, and the oscillations of the reeds would buzz through the accordion case to the musician fortunate enough to play it. A magical experience... just playin'.

Now, you may be a skinny Scot, mate, but there are those of us of more rotund physique whose barrel chests and bulbous bellies assert a need for extra protection for the bellows ;)

Actually, while practicing near a piano, my accordion would frequently set the piano humming in sympathy 🙂
