B-griff vs C-griff

For a 4 note major chord in the B system the two middle fingers are toward the edge of the keyboard, and two outer fingers are toward the baffle.

If you choose to play them that way.

For a major chord in root position it is usually a lot more comfortable to play the middle fingers two rows back, rather than one row forward. The Russians will even sometimes play D-F#-A-D using 1234 on the 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 4th rows, rather than 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 1st.

In first or second inversion, often easier to use the front row for the root.

Back in the day, though, the very first CBAs must have been 3 row, and the tradition may have started then.
I just wanted notoriety. I'm outta my league in this fancy place.
