LOSTHOBOS:
Thanks for sharing the accordion article.
Very good read.
Nice to catch up once in a while, and remind ourselves why we all chose the accordion---in it's various iterations.

I'm digging that "Believe it or not, the accordion is perhaps the most played instrument in the entire world..." thing. ???

I'm digging that ring idea.... Who's gonna be first to piss on my bonfire .
I can see that working if you can keep the wire from interfering... and of course everyone is different. As a kid I used to wear a big chunk of gold on my left hand (wedding) finger, it took me about a year to get used to playing the accordion with it on and in that time it bugged the crap out of me and then when I took it off, it took 2 years to get used to it not being there! :D :D

In terms of actual numbers, I don't think the accordion rules that area, but it cannot be too far behind. I tend to feel (and its an opinion, not a researched proven fact), that if one takes all manners of guitars out there (the same as was done for the accordion), that they are higher in number than us out there over the years.

That said, you don't see me plucking any guitars on my Youtube channel... lol

I've often discussed this with friends. A lot of people don't realize how popular the accordion is across the globe. There are so many 'world' music genres that rely heavily on various types of accordions. And a lot of those genres are very important and relevant in the lifestyles of the people. So, I can't say if it is the most played instrument, but there is an argument that it is one of the most popular instruments in the world.

If one goes back to the 40's-60's, the thousands and thousands of accordions that Castelfidardo alone pumped out certainly supports that very strongly! :)
