Scandalli keyboard info

I have a couple of questions about this rather nice Scandalli accordion:
1) am I right in thinking that the plate shown in the attached picture means the accordion was built in 1942/1943? I understand it was shipped recently from the US.
2) Does anyone know what the little tool screwed inside the grille is for (see pic)
3) I don't actually need to dismantle the keyboard, but if I did, how does it come apart (see pic). I can't see a kb axle end anywhere.

The keyboard on this one has treble keys that slide into a keyway under the treble keys. These treble keys are slid in place and held down by coil springs.
That tool is used to release the coil springs and remove the keys individually. The tool is also used to re-attach the coils.

Those waterfall keys date it as late 30's to mid 40's.

Did waterfall keys go to the wasteside in the mid 40's? Is it safe to assume if you see them its pre 1950?

How's the sound on that scandalli? I see those brevetti scandallis seem to sell on ebay and are well liked... even if really old and need work.

I respect the question on accordions made with waterfall keys and the time's and date's of their demise. The subject on this question belongs in another thread. If a member here cares to start one, I'll gladly try my best to expand on the subject.
