My version. Fr4x solo with violin, accordion combo sounds. Korg PA3x arranger as backing.

Now this is quite tricky to describe for me, but Ill try. For me the problem is that in this rendition the arranger feels to be not as much backing as the spine since the solo parts are fitted in cleanly. Clearly Silent Night does not call for acrobatics: I have absolutely no idea how one could make this setup work better for me for this piece.

As I said: finding arranger versions on Youtube dissuaded me from even attempting anything with my own old arrangers: I did not really see myself competing with the skill sets put into those versions but also wasnt convinced of the results. I still dont have an idea what could turn out more convincing to me. The solo violin, by the way, has an impressive sound quality. If I wanted to compete using stuff I have in my house, Id have to revert to an actual violin. My electronic versions would not be anywhere close.

Now, I have to say I really liked this, and I kinda hope not to hear a little more anti-digital remarks, because this was absolutely lovely. :D :D
Good job!!

I wouldnt worry Jozz....im still waiting for the Tom and Jerry double act <EMOJI seq=1f609>?</EMOJI>
Ok, ok, Terry, I deserved that... haha!
But now that you tossed out the double act comment, in my next future video I will have to do a duet with myself and cover both Toms and Jerrys parts... just because!

It wasnt really anti-digital: I enjoyed your own version just fine. It was rather that the arranger delivered too much of a framework to leave enough breathing room for the personal interpretation. It probably didnt help that the presets would have worked better with a more modern song like White Christmas, or in an ironic setting.

When I put up my digital organ variant in a different thread, someone complained why does everybody play this as a waltz? (which prompted me to do my first acoustic entry with a completely unpatterned bass). Now an arranger is really great at cranking out a danceable version with well-recognizable beats and a well-filled background.

If I discuss this much longer, Ill be forced to dig around with my arrangers after all in the probably futile attempt to produce some possibly-less-awful-if-someone-skilled-tried-this version. But I am afraid that the date of delivery would be after Xmas and likely in a manner where not even I get my point.

Wicked bass work! Makes me glad I did not attempt a Boogie bass version since I couldnt have held a candle to this.

Well, my endeavor of a melody in the free bass variant got side-tracked by noticing that versions with noisemakers other than accordion were permitted. This is the version after swapping melody and accompaniment and then dropping melody on the floor.

If the bellows do not become your lungs, you are not doing it right.

They all look so serious! If they just looked quite more grim and youd hang beards on all of them, you could imagine being in Switzerland. Well, the lack of C system CBAs would be a clue, but other than that...

The point of this conversation was to “have fun” and not be so critical. I think in the most part, this was accomplished. Thanks to all those taking the time to make your renditions. Merry Christmas!

Serious or not, they all had fun, and indeed, that was the goal of this thread, so all I can say is bardzo dobrze zrobione! :)

Every entry here is just awesome and filled with the spirit of the season. At 4:00am I cannot recall who first suggested this idea, but I am glad we did it, it was a great suggestion!

Yes, all of them had fun - nice gift for Christmas :)
I wish you Merry Christmas.

Oh, I had no doubt of that. Even though its probably been a challenge to get all of this synchronized and mixed, both with regard to the recording as well as the aftermath.

So I ran out of time. I wasnt able to create a reasonably good recording playing the original version of Silent Night on the free bass and the original accompaniment in the right hand. I transposed a bit and went into silly octave realm. The result is more a theoretical statement about MMM with a sillily large range than anything else. This instrument would deserve a better player, but at least I take care of it.
