Hello Friends! I think the plastic got all separated from the metal because of moisture that comes from Left hand of the previous owner (s). Disgusting :-) What glue is needed for the bass panel repair please? I don’t want to make it worse. I have clips and enthusiasm 😊 Accordionly appreciate any advice!

Traditionally (but there are increasingly many exceptions) the "plastic" you refer to is celluloid. Celluloid dissolves in acetone, but this goes slowly (takes about 3 minutes to become like a paste). Celluloid completely dissolved in acetone can be used as what is called "celluloid glue".
You can try a few things: where the celluloid has separated you can inject some acetone, then clamp the layers together. The celluloid that touches the metal should turn into glue and stick to the metal. But if you overdo it on the acetone the result will be worse than what you started with...
An alternative is to inject some superglue between the celluloid and the metal. Superglue is acetone based and therefore works well with celluloid, but again, if you overdo it on the glue the end result will be worse than what you started with because the superglue dissolves the celluloid.

I have done the same. Clamping is the key here so when you put it back on it doesn’t stick up ever so slightly—it will then rub on your wrist snd really be annoyingly uncomfortable.

I used Gorilla superglue.

Thank you!
I also sanded the extra glue and painted the edge with acrylic paint. Hopefully will hold :/)

Alternatively, you could fashion a replacement panel from Perspex (or some other suitable material) using the original as a template?🤔🙂
