I am planning to buy a smaller accordion. I love my 41/120. It has great sound, but I am finding it very heavy at 28 pounds. I tend to pick up one of my smaller factor vintage accordions but it is just not the same. I am thinking of getting a new 34/72 3/5, dural reeds at about 18 pounds. It might not have quite the richness but I will be able to pick it up and stand up for an hour (I hope).

When ordering new you can opt to have a mano reeds installed (at extra cost of course) and this will improve on the richness of the sound without adding to the weight.

Thanks and great point, Paul. I'm not sure how much extra this would be. I'm happy with the sound of my current setup, so will probably stick with the dural, to stay (pretty much <EMOJI seq="1f610">?</EMOJI>) in my budget.

Hi Tom,

Though I mostly use my 120/41 these days, I do have the option of using my 72 bass instrument. It sounds counterintuitive, but my 72 Bass Chanson weighs perhaps a little more than my Arietta 120/41.

I guess the Chanson is just heavier built than the Hohner, and can think of no other credible explanation for it.

Good luck with your search.

Kind Regards,

Stephen.

Thanks guys! Yeah, Stephen, some accordions are just built like tanks! I will try to buy one in stock. Hi Tony, I will PM you....
