Well, in todays day and age that is making it too easy. We do have wikipedia now.
The song that came second was Lazzarella, composed by Domenico Modugno, song by Aurelio Fierro.
(Im just copying from wikipedia and checked on youtube that the melody is correct.)

That is the very reason I provided that clue.
The game can now move on

Here is the next one. Not Italian as that proves to be difficult to solve without many clues.

Let me try a "simple" instrumental one: FGABesCDEs with one clue: the scale (of Bes major but starting with F) that I am giving does not continue past that last note.
The "song" is instrumental, so you do not have to search for the words. I skipped the intro. This run is the start of the main melody.
If nobody gets it by tonight (European time) I will provide a few clues on the title.

No takers?
Assuming people have not lost interest, here are two hints: think of a color and think of an accordion brand.

Just to prove I haven't lost interest, I've found 'Blue Parrot Rag' but that doesn't fit the notes. Still looking

Two more notes. The melody is FGABesCDEsGFis.

I'm suspect that additional notes won't be any use as this seems to be yet another tune that I don't know :(

It is always possible that someone does not know the tune but this is a very well tune, world-wide, and has been for many many years.
The color was already guessed, the accordion brand was still wrong...
It is a jazz waltz and the scale is just played like a scale (except for the longer last note).

Yes, Reedwarbler clearly knows the answer - and so do I following his clue - "Bluesette". I'm afraid my Jazz knowledge is non-existant and I didn't know the tune. I think it's Reedwarbler's turn. Are there only 3 of us playing?

Well, I read the posts, but I don't know the tunes.

(The version of Teenager in Love that I know has a different verse...)

I'll leave this one to you geoff45789 as you did actually guess it (and put it in writing :D ) .

I'm afraid i don't have a lot of time at the moment to keep monitoring the thread in order to respond to members' posts.
So over to you geoff45789

Live and learn... I find it hard to believe that there is anyone who doesnt know Bluesette...

I dont recognise any of the tunes probably because my musical background is mainly classical, folk and some French musette ![/quote]
Thats also my problem in general. My musical background is also mainly classical (including baroque) and anything from lighter or more recent music is concentrated on tunes that are somewhat popular on accordion. (For bluesette: http://www.de-bra.nl/arrangements/bluesette-parts.pdf for accordion quintet or one harmonica or accordina plus an accordion quartet.)

I have trouble getting a melody like DGGGDFG into my head because my harmonic brain seeing all Ds and Gs wants the F to be a Fis (F#) which it isnt...
